Arkansas Family Reunion

At the end of June we made the yearly trip to Arkansas for a long weekend of relaxation. This year was our year to host the reunion (families take turns yearly), this means cleaning, making drinks, cleaning, cooking and more cleaning. It's nice that our turn only comes around once every four years. Of course we had the best time. I think Moises enjoys the reunion as much as I do. Jorja was only four weeks old last year when we went so this year was much more fun filled for her. We did have a chance to take her over to the sandy beach to play. She was born a water-baby you know. The lake was right up her alley. Here are some pictures of our trip.

Visit from Grammy

Grammy came in from Childress for Jorja's Birthday Party and stayed with us a week, we tried to keep her here a little longer. Her and Jorja were hanging out in the backyard together. Here are some of those moments captured on camera. Jorja must have really enjoyed Grammy being here because she started calling her Mama -

Jorja's 1st Birthday Party

Jorja's 1st Birthday Party was so much fun. A big "Thank you" goes out to all of you who were able to attend and help make this event perfect! We rented a bounce house and a margarita machine. I didn't think Jorja would get much use out of either of those things but I thought it would keep the other children and adults occupied. It turned out Jorja loved the bounce house. She even crawled up the landing and into the house on her own. Grammy Dixon made her beautiful Tinkerbell cake. Thank you Tammy-it was gorgeous! Jorja had to have a bath after demolishing her cake.

Since Jorja's big party was a couple of weeks after her official birthday, her Granny wanted us to go out for dinner and celebrate her big day. Here are a few pics of that event. We went to our favorite little mexican place, Los Lupes.

Spring is here!

Last month we attended a Band Banquet for Daniel and Carley. I can't believe those two are in high school. Carly's about to start driving. They just got back from a trip to New York with their school. I haven't heard all of the stories yet but I'm sure they have some good ones.

We went to Childress for Mom's Birthday in April and took her and some of her friends out for lunch at the local Pizza Hut after church. It was a nice visit that weekend. There's just never enough time to visit everyone we need to. Happy Birthday Mom!

We made it to Austin to visit with Moises' mom a couple of weekends ago, she was in a car accident. Thankfully she was only bruised and sore. Jorja had a lot of fun following her grandma around.

We spent last weekend out in the yard, planting two oak trees and doing a little gardening. Dad and Tammy came over so we grilled out some fajitas. We've been spending a lot of time in the backyard this spring, Jorja loves being outside. She will play forever out there. She loves to eat potting soil and lick mud off of the spade (yuck). She also enjoys licking the concrete patio. What's up with my weird child? Tomorrow is her birthday. She'll be ONE!!!! I can't believe it. We are going to have dinner with Granny, David and Frances. Granny made cupcakes and is taking cupcakes and balloons to her daycare tomorrow for all of the kids. How sweet! We are also planning a big birthday party for Jorja on May 31st. I know it's a little late but Grammy will be out of school for the summer so she can drive down to visit for a while. Stay tuned for photos of the birthday bash! Our girl has now added "Touch Down" to her vocabulary as well as "Grandpa." She said her first phrase while mimicking me this weekend, "Lick her feet." Still no luck getting her to say Papi. Her dad is a little sad that this hasn't happened yet. I'm trying to get her to say "Go Romo, " hopefully she'll have that down by football season.

Saying goodbye to Uncle George

Well, my Uncle George passed away a little over a week ago. This is my grandmother,who passed away three weeks before, her first child. He was 70 years old and passed while in his recliner with a grin on his face. His daughter told me it was as if he had seen his mother and smiled. It was very hard on the family, two death's in a one month period of time. He is actualy pictured below with my husband and my father at grandma's funeral.

Let's play catch-up - Moises and I attended my co-worker Joe's wedding on March 15. We had a really fun time. Pictured below is me and my friend Nikki from WaMu at the wedding. I didn't get a good picture of Joe and his beautiful bride Joanna, they all came out blurry for some reason (maybe because Moises was in control of the camera, ha ha).

On the way to Uncle George's funeral we stopped and took Jorja's picture in the bluebonnets on the side of 635. Here's how some of them turned out.

We had dinner at our house and invited Granny Karen, Uncle David and Aunt Frances. Thanks for coming over and making our evening festive. Love you!

Jorja has taken her first trip to Braums. You've got to see the video. She loves the ice cream!

I took some pictures last weekend of Jorja and Trouble outside playing together. Trouble is the sweetest dog when it comes to children.

Moises' Birthday 2008

Moises loves the San Antonio Spurs so for his birthday I thought I would get him tickets to the Easter Sunday Spurs/Mavericks game. Saturday night we went to dinner for his birthday and handed out his gifts. Jorja and I made him a card, Jorja gave him a Spurs cap and I provided the T-shirt with the two tickets inside. He was so shocked when he found the tickets, he couldn't believe the game was the very next day. Whew, that was a hard secret to keep for the past month.
